Formatting not updating

Changing a formatting is not an event that needs a recalculation, so that is not enough; but for example typing anything in any cell You are saying there was never a way to have Excel recalculate automatically on cells' changed values without user intervention? I did have it in Excel 2013 and it worked perfectly well. And yes, it did use up lots of resources but it did exist. Same with RTD server functionality, Microsoft had to post several fixes for that alone.3) All forms of calculations on the worksheet does not update the formatting I have solved this by writing below function in VBA..

After changing the drop down box I have to preform 2 updates of random cells before the formatting is updates (not 1 but 2 changes which is very strange...) The following fixes do NOT work: 1) Enable Format Conditions Calculations is set TRUE in the VBA properties for the sheet (has no affect on above issue) 2) The sheet is of cause set to auto calculate.

If that is what you refer to, it was not clear at all.

This works in Excel 20 (just verified); I don't have 2016, can't check. I marked the UDF I am using as volatile [Excel Function(Is Volatile = true)] and now the timer callback via RTD automatically updates the worksheet without any manual user intervention.

When I press F9 it does update the cell value but I need automatic updating not manual updating.

update when something else (calculation relevant) is changed on the sheet, and a recalculation is triggered that way.
